April 26, 2010 Home on the Mountain

Assigned to Camp Abish, with Irene and Maurice Smith. Spring has not yet arrived.

This is Our camp site before we moved in the trailer and motorhome.

More snow arrived every day. We have no hot water and the propane is getting low. We need to remember that spring will arrive to this "temple on the Mountain" .

Moving in

We went home to get our motorhome readyand got a call,"Have your motorhome at the camp by 11:30. "sorry I replied, We are still in Ogden, but we can be there about 12 noon. We husseled down the road. Stan drove the motorhome and I drove the Honda. We arrived around noon and were looking at the site where we will be living for the next six months. A truck came down the road, roared up the dirt road, through a bank of snow then started backing into the camp site. I thought Stan should help them get that trailer in right, but a little lady standing nearby told me her husband was a retired trucker and could do the job. It was Irene Smith's sister and a member of Mike's ward. We got the trailer and motorhome moved in and soon there were HVC support team to get us hooked up. They put in the sewer, hooked up the water and electricity.

The start of our mission April 16 2010

The Heber Valley Girls Camp is awesome. We had a great party on Monday night and met lots of great people. Wish I could remember names better than I do. Tuesday we met in a chapel with Priesthood brethren conducting. Brother Case is the secretary and is the retired Principal and was recently released as a Stake President. Brother Giles is the 2nd counselor and is retired banker and returned to Heber. Brother Edwards,1st counselor returned several years ago as Mission President from Haiti, and was a Stake President. President Wright is the Head of Health department in Heber City. They started the meeting singing the Primary Song and Heber Girls Camp Theme song, "I Feel My Saviors Love," and all I could do was cry, the spirit was so strong. Great spiritual meeting!.
Wednesday, we started training in all the different aspects of things we will need to do this summer. We played games, learned how to handle different problems that might be arise, and went over all the rules. 1. Everyone needs to wear long pants, and shirts with sleeves. Shoes that cover toes and heels. 2. No pets or animals. 3. Must have permission to visit. etc.

On Friday we were assigned as hosts of the Abish camp with Maurice and Irene Smith. ( Could we be more blessed!!) We will bring our motor home up to the camp on Monday and then get lots of training on how to take care of the girls and families who come to our area. We have lots of cleaning to do. Tuesday we will all be at the SL temple and have lunch at the Joseph Smith bldg. and hear from a General Authority and Sister Dalton Pres. of the YW.

They will have an OPEN HOUSE on May 15, and you can come and see everything at the Camp. It really will be beautiful. Still has snow in the shade, but Spring is coming. They will have another Open House in August but I don't know the date.
